It is with great pleasure that we announce the ASM Akron Chapter will be presenting our Outstanding Achievement Award to Dr. Edward A. Evans, University of Akron Associate Professor & Associate Chair for Education, Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. Dr. Evans’ biography is attached for your review.

Dr. Evans has been a major force in the development of the Corrosion Engineering Program at the University and has repeatedly offered his time and talent to the success of the ASM Akron Chapter’s annual Teachers Camp program.

Dr. Evans is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. Dr. Evans received his PhD from Case Western Reserve University in 1998 in Chemical Engineering. Since joining The University of Akron he has worked on several different material systems most of which fall into the category of ceramics, ceramic coatings and ceramic composites. Recently this work has focused on composites for high temperature applications and environmental/thermal barrier coatings.

Dr. Evans has been involved in the ASM Materials Camp at The University of Akron since 2009, helping the local ASM chapter raise funds and run the camp. Dr. Evans has also been involved with the effort to create the new Bachelor of Science in Corrosion Engineering. The first ten graduates completed their degrees in May 2015 and each found full time positions in the corrosion engineering field. Dr. Evans is now involved in the effort to create an Associate’s Degree in Corrosion Engineering Technology.

The ASM Akron Chapter does not schedule a February Meeting because we support the Engineers’ Week banquet as our February activity.

Join us as we celebrate National Engineers Week, Akron, Ohio.
